P1 Registration 2026: getting ready for Primary 1 in 2027.

Your next steps after registration: school orientation, everyday routines and a practical readiness checklist to help your K2 child settle into Primary 1 in 2027.

What to do now, in October 2026

Jump to: after registration · P1 readiness checklist · completed 2026 phases · international outcomes

P1 registration 2026 is for children starting Primary 1 in January 2027, born between 2 January 2020 and 1 January 2021 (both dates inclusive). The online phases for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents ran from June to August. Families with a confirmed place can now focus on school orientation and the transition from K2.

Still waiting for an international-student outcome? MOE will notify applicants by email by the end of October. That timeline is separate from the completed citizen and PR phases. See the international-applicant guidance below.

Registration year and school-entry year are different. MOE’s announced changes apply from the 2027 registration exercise, for P1 entry in 2028. The dates below are a record of the 2026 exercise, not the next registration calendar.

After registration: your next steps

  1. Read your school’s messages. Note the orientation date, forms and deadlines. Contact the school if you cannot attend.
  2. Make the practical arrangements. Follow the school’s uniform and textbook lists. Ask about school transport and student care if your family needs them.
  3. Introduce the new environment. Explore the school together at orientation, or look at its website and photographs. Talk about what a school day might feel like.
  4. Practise a manageable routine. Gradually rehearse waking up, getting dressed, packing a bag and leaving home. Keep time for play and rest.

MOE explains these steps in its school orientation guidance and preschool-to-primary transition advice. Your school will provide its own dates and instructions.

A practical P1 readiness checklist

Use this as a gentle conversation starter over the next few months. It is not an admission test or a requirement to master the P1 syllabus before school begins. Pick one or two skills to practise together.

  • Asking for help: practise saying “I need help” or “I don’t understand” to a trusted adult.
  • Making friends: rehearse introducing themselves, taking turns and inviting another child to play.
  • Following instructions: try simple two-step tasks, such as putting a book away and bringing a water bottle.
  • Everyday independence: practise managing belongings, opening a lunchbox and using the toilet independently, with support where needed.
  • Early literacy: share a short story, talk about what happened and play with familiar letter sounds and words.
  • Number confidence: count everyday objects and compare small groups through games and conversation.

Notice what feels comfortable and what needs support. If your child is worried, listen first and talk with their kindergarten teacher or future school. Our full Primary 1 preparation guide has more ideas for home practice.

Looking for English and Maths support? Edufarm’s P1 Preparatory programme for K2 children develops early reading, writing and numeracy alongside classroom habits. A class is optional; ask us about a suitable class and current availability if your child would benefit from additional support.

International applicants: outcomes by end October

International students follow a separate process. For the 2026 exercise, the indication-of-interest window was 19–25 May 2026. MOE says applicants will receive an email by the end of October stating whether a place has been offered. Admission is not guaranteed.

If your child receives an offer, follow the instructions in the email to register at the designated school. Check MOE’s international-student guidance for the official process.

Frequently asked questions

Is P1 registration 2026 for children starting school in 2027?

Yes. The 2026 exercise is for children born between 2 January 2020 and 1 January 2021, both dates inclusive, who start Primary 1 in January 2027. The 2027 registration exercise is for the following intake, starting P1 in 2028.

Is Phase 2C Supplementary still open?

No. The 2026 Phase 2C Supplementary registration window was 17–18 August. If your child still has no confirmed school place, contact MOE for advice rather than waiting for another 2026 registration phase.

When will international applicants receive their outcome?

MOE says international applicants who submitted their indication of interest in May will receive an email outcome by the end of October 2026. Admission is not guaranteed. If offered a place, follow the registration instructions in that email.

What should we do after securing a P1 place?

Follow your primary school’s orientation and administrative instructions. Check uniforms, textbooks, school transport and student care arrangements, and practise the daily routine with your child.

Does my child need a P1 preparation class?

A preparation class is optional. Look at the support your child needs, their kindergarten experience and your family routine. Edufarm’s P1 Preparatory programme offers English and Maths support for K2 children; ask us about suitable classes and current availability.
